July 17, 2003 - 11:03 Theo's entry reminds me: Alan, Jen, Shane: Flotsam: Wreckage and cargo that remains afloat after a ship is sunk. Jetsam: Cargo and equipment thrown overboard by a ship in distress. The common phrase flotsam and jetsam is now used loosely to describe any objects found floating or washed ashore.
